For haters or lovers who cares it seems to me its not being sarcastic. Ashfur's father died cause Bone killed him, Brindleface was killed at Tigerstar's own dirty little paws. Ferncloud was killed by Brokenstar. Squirrelflight loved him but then ditched him. Thats enough to make a cat go crazy. So he did until the end of his life when he was killed by his own kin.

I'm a little more sympathetic towards Ashfur. Though, I'll never find him trying to murder Squirrelflight/her family just because she didn't love him acceptable. Squirrelflight's heart belonged to someone else, and she only thought of Ashfur as a friend. But his family was basically murdered, so I can see his pain.

Yeah, I never liked the fact of him wanting to kill her adopted kin but I mean he went loppy because his entire family was dead. When he lost the closest cat to him, He probably had enough and really wanted her to feel his pain. First he got Firestar to be stuck in a fox trap. He was hoping for Brambleclaw to kill Firestar to become leader. Ashfur thought that mabe if Bramblesclaw did that then Squirrelflight would ditch Bramble and come back to him.
